Hello! I’m Justine Uhlenbrock. I am an epidemiologist by trade and a storyteller by hobby. I am also a birth doula, childbirth educator, and strategist. I am a southerner transplanted to Beantown for my husband’s career and am a wife, renegade homemaker, and mother who spends an alarming portion of my day giving simple directions like, “Go around to the other side of the couch. No, the other side. Sweetie, around the couch, like this. That’s it, now look on top. On top. TOP. By that I mean look up. Ok, now do you see it? No?”
If motherhood was my second adolescence, then writing must be my third. I enjoy writing; I write about my roots with the hope that looking backward will help me understand the path I travel now. When not writing, I am probably reading or listening to other people’s stories. I enjoy reading and writing literary reflections. I plan to share my own process, even if it makes me feel vulnerable. For some reason I cannot recall now, I decided this is the year I will speak in public.
